Printed silicone dots on fabric

Silicone printed directly onto fabric, or onto TPU and nylon hot-melt film for cut-and-press use. Roll width 1440 mm, continuous length up to 10000 mm, samples in 3 days.

Roll delivery suits a cutting line: the dot array is uniform across the full width and goes straight into sewing or pressing.

Product description

Printed silicone dots give the fabric controlled friction against whatever it touches: pads that stop migrating, cuffs and socks that stop sliding, insoles that stay put, liners that stop chafing. It is a functional layer, not decoration.

Two delivery forms match how the customer makes the product. The first is fabric printed in a roll, 1440 mm wide and up to 10000 mm long. The second is dots printed onto TPU or nylon hot-melt film: cut the shape, press it on, and no printing line is needed in house. Hook-and-loop tape can be printed or dispensed directly.

Dot geometry sets both grip and feel: larger diameter, tighter pitch and taller dots grip harder but feel firmer; the opposite feels softer but grips less. We draw the pattern against your grip target and prove it on a physical sample rather than reusing one standard array.

Structure and process points

  • Carrier first: fibre, weight and finishing agents set the bonding difficulty; sized fabric has to be desized.
  • Wetting matters: viscosity and dispensing pressure must push silicone into the fibre gaps instead of leaving it on top.
  • Cure window: too little heat leaves a tacky surface, too much makes it brittle; set the curve against the carrier temperature limit.
  • Geometry to order: diameter, height, pitch and shape follow the grip and feel requirement.
  • Film route: printing on hot-melt film removes printing and drying from the garment factory.

Options

Range for printed dots

Typical range for this product. Sizes, dot diameter, height and tolerance are confirmed on a drawing or sample; colour and feel are approved on a physical sample.

ItemRangeHow it is fixed
Carrier Knitted and woven fabric, elastic tape, hook-and-loop, TPU and nylon film Fibre content, weight and a fabric sample
Format Roll width 1440 mm, continuous length up to 10000 mm Roll length and cutting method
Dot geometry Round, oval, bar and free shapes; diameter, height and pitch adjustable Pattern drawing and sampling
Colour Matched to a colour chip or Pantone, multi-colour zones Colour plaque and sample approval
Delivery form Fabric roll, film roll, or nested cut pieces Customer line and cutting method
Sampling Samples in 3 days Timed from drawing or fabric sample
Application photo: pressing a silicone dot film cut piece onto a sports support
The film route moves printing upstream: the garment factory only cuts and presses.

Before tooling

Three things to settle

Once these are agreed the dot pattern and process window can be frozen; dimensions follow the drawing.

  • Fibre content, weight and finishing (sizing, silicone softener)
  • Grip target and application: what it contacts, whether wash and sweat resistance are needed
  • Delivery form, roll length and nesting, plus packaging and shipping

FAQ

Questions on printed dots

How wide can the roll be?

Roll width 1440 mm, continuous length up to 10000 mm. Dot diameter, height and shape are made to order; the layout is confirmed on a drawing or sample.

Will the dots peel off after washing?

That depends on desizing and cleaning, wetting and cure. Verify at the actual temperature, detergent and cycle count during sampling.

How is the hot-melt film used?

Cut the printed TPU or nylon film to shape and press it onto the fabric at the specified temperature and pressure, then let it cool. Trial-press first.

Grip design, wash resistance and elastic parts each have their own note.

Send the fabric and the grip target

Fibre content, weight, a sample and the target grip are enough for a process route and a dot pattern; samples in 3 days.
